We review German FinTech investment numbers for Q1 2019 below:
Q1 2019 FinTech VC Trends
- Equity investments in Q1 reached a new record high at €686m, more than doubling yoy, the quarterly average since 2015 stand at €224m
- Q1 equity investments are also 77% higher than the previous record quarter (Q4 2018 at €385m) and represent already more than half of FY2018
- Number of equity deals in Q1 came in at 26, seven deals or 21% lower qoq and a steep 30% decline vs Q1 2018, the quarterly average since 2015 stand at 32 deals
- We count a stunning 4 deals at or above €100m in funding in Q1 all of which are among Germany’s Top10 all time FinTech deals
- Top Deals: N26 (new record holder at €260m and Germany’s first FinTech unicorn), Friday(€114m), WeFox (€110m) and raisin (€100m)
